Chimney Dog Park

The Chimney Dog Park is located in the city of Portland, Oregon. Parking for vehicles is available in a small lot adjacent to the dog park. This park is an expansive area of parkland, around five and a half acres in total, which has been designated as an off-leash area for exercising dogs. It is surfaced mostly with natural grass with bark chippings in some spots. It is fenced with a low, chain-link fence. Owners should be aware that dogs can escape easily through, over, or under the fencing so it is important to ensure they have good voice control over their dog. A busy road runs along one side of the off-leash area and owners should be extra vigilant of their dogs when in this section.

There are many mature trees inside the off-leash area boundaries, which provide excellent shade in hot weather. There is a double-gated staging section for the leashing and unleashing of dogs. There is a walkable dirt trail running through the off-leash area. The dog park is open to the elements and the ground can become muddy after rainfall. There is no separate section cordoned off for small dogs.

All dogs using the Chimney Dog Park must display appropriate social interaction with other dogs. Any dog displaying aggression must be leashed and immediately removed from the dog park. It is not permitted to exercise more than three dogs at any one time. All dogs are required to be wearing the correct license and vaccination tags on their collars as well.

A water spigot is installed in the dog park and there are a few park benches and picnic tables. Poop bags are not supplied but pet owners are required to provide their own poop bags and ensure they pick up all fecal matter produced by their dogs and dispose of it in the containers provided. It is a beautiful dog park which is partially maintained on a voluntary basis. The local authorities and volunteers request all users of the facility to respect the rules and help keep the park clean for everyone.
