Discovery Green Dog Runs

Located right in downtown Houston, the Discovery Green Park is the ideal place for urbanites to bring their pups out for some playtime. Here canines and humans alike can get some respite from their apartments and enjoy fresh air, exercise, and a sense of community. In this park you can catch up with the neighbors and their dogs, or simply sit back and people watch. There is never a dull moment here! 

Pawsibly the best part of this park are the dog runs, two separate fenced off areas for off leash freedom. One run is for small breeds, shorter than 15 inches, and another for the big guys, taller than 15 inches. This allows pups of all shapes and sizes a safe place to enjoy some roughhousing, sniffing, and general romping around. The surface is made up of crushed gravel, and there are doggy water fountains. Seating areas for the humans is on site as well. 

Since this dog run is fairly popular, there is a 45 minute time limit on playtime per dog. Waste bags are provided, so please make use of these to help keep the space clean. The dog runs are fairly small, but they're enough for your dog to get the taste of off-leash freedom and meet other dogs uninhibited. 

If your time limit is up in the dog run, or your pup just wants to see what's on the other side of the fences, they are welcome to explore the rest of Discover Green Park with you on leash. You'll often find public art displays, live music, outdoor movies, and other events and performances in this park. Pups are allowed to join you for most of these, as long as they stay on good behavior and don't cause a disruption. If your stomach is growling, you can grab a treat from one of the food vendors or restaurants.
