Ed Leathers Community Dog Park

The Ed Leathers Community Dog Park is in the town of Somerville in Massachusetts. This dog park is a small, neighborhood facility or OLRA, off-leash recreational area, for exercising dogs off-leash. The only available parking spaces for vehicles close to the dog park are on the nearby streets.

This park is a patch of spare ground on the corner of the street which has been fenced in to provide a space for dogs to run free. It is compact and does not offer much exercise room for large breeds, but is ideal for medium-sized and small dogs. This dog park is not large enough to have an independent section for small breeds. 

The Ed Leathers Community Dog Park has a dirt surface, and there is a paved walkway running part way around the border. There are lots of trees outside the perimeter fencing and a couple of large trees inside which make it quite shady. The dog park is furnished with a bench for pet owners to rest on while their pet plays. 

There is a poop bag dispenser and water fountain installed on-site. Anyone using the off-leash area should be aware it is strictly prohibited to leave a dog unattended there. All owners are restricted to exercising no more than three dogs at one time. 

Dogs must be prevented from barking excessively when in the off-leash area as it is close to housing. At the Ed Leathers Community Dog Park, dogs that tend to bark constantly should be leashed and removed from the park. Only dogs more than four months old, have been licensed with the authorities, and completed a full cycle of vaccinations are permitted in the off-leash areas. 

Owners are requested to fully comply with the poop scoop regulations by cleaning all dog poop up immediately, bagging it and disposing of the bags responsibly in the dumpsters provided. Cooperation by all users of the Ed Leathers Community Dog Park is essential in helping to keep it clean.
