Florence Dog Park (at David H McLeod Park)

Florence Dog Park is a public dog park located at the David H Mcleod Park in Florence, South Carolina. In addition to the dog park, the 48-acre recreational park features a variety of sports courts and fields, horseshoe pits, a playground, a skate park, picnic areas, and public restrooms. The park is also home to a pond, hiking trails, and nature paths, which dogs are welcome on as long as they are leashed.

The Florence Dog Park has a simple layout consisting of a single open space for dogs of all breeds and size to play and socialize in. Though that allows for more room to roam and explore, it might not be an ideal location for timid small dog breeds. However, pooches that can keep up with the large hounds are more than welcome.

The park is off-leash but not fenced so dogs need to be under strict voice command during their visit, especially since the park features a fish-filled pond that many might be tempted to dip into. Make sure to supervise your canine companion closely as gators have been spotted in the pond previously.

The wooded dog park is equipped with free waste bag dispensers and some trash cans, so please be certain that you clean up after your pooch. Since the dog park does not have any water fountains for dogs or humans, it is important for dog owners to remember to bring their own water supply and a bowl for their furball to make sure he remains hydrated.

There is plenty of shade in the dog park thanks to the numerous mature trees growing throughout it which helps keep both owners and their four-legged friends cool. The park is also equipped with several benches and covered seating areas which enable owners to sit down and rest while they watch their pooches explore the ungroomed, nature-filled park.
