Forked Run State Park

Forked Run State Park covers a total area of 791 acres near Marietta City, the county seat of Washington County, Ohio. To get to the park, just travel 34 miles southwest of Marietta. Construction of this park began in 1951 and the park was opened a year later after the construction of a 102-acre lake was completed within the park.

The terrain at the park mostly consists of trees on rolling hills at the heart of the Appalachia, as well as the lake and the Ohio River. This amazing backdrop is completed by picturesque scenes of abundant wildlife and riverboats that bring this quiet environment alive.

Besides the experience of nature at its finest, the Forked Run State Park also offers a lot of other popular activities that include picnicking, camping, swimming, hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, and sledding. Amenities at the park to facilitate these activities include over 150 campsites, most of which have electricity, camper cabins, picnic areas, picnic shelters, showers, boat rentals, playgrounds, game courts, and a disc golf course among other facilities.

Like other Ohio State parks, entrance to the park for you and for your pets is absolutely free. If you choose to bring your dog to the park, be aware that standard Ohio state park rules apply. Some of the more common rules that relate to bringing your pet to the park include the following. First, you must keep your dog on a leash no longer than six feet long. Additionally, you must avoid areas of the park that are not designated as pet-friendly areas. 

Generally, you must avoid letting your dog wander into park buildings and park areas like cabins and cabin areas, lodge and lodge areas, wildlife display areas, and other public places. If you choose to camp at the park, be aware that there is a limit of two pets per campsite.
