Description

High Cliff State Park is an 1187-acre lakefront landscape containing several hiking opportunities, in addition to the highest rated rock climbing in the state. High Cliff State Park is a fantastic hiking opportunity. Guests are treated to over 12 miles of paved trails. The Red Line Trail is a six-mile loop that takes guests over two different streams, and past several small rock formations.

The Indian Mound Trail is a four-mile loop through an area that once belonged to Native American tribes that inhabited the area. These ancient peoples left behind several mounds that served as both ritual centers and burial mounds. Today, guests can walk through this area and read several informative plaques about the still-existing mounds.

There are also nine miles of primitive trails, which can be quite challenging for the less physically able. The primitive trails wind through the rocky walls that give High Cliff State Park its name and leaves guests at the shores of Lake Winnebago, a massive 1241-acre body of water. If you bring your dog along for a walk, they're welcome to join you provided they stay on a sturdy leash, and you clean up any waste they might drop onto the ground.

The High Cliff State Park Visitor's Center hosts several meeting rooms on the lakefront that are available for rental up to six months in advance. Also found in this area is a children's playground and a 166-star watchtower that gives visitors a 360-degree view of the surrounding forest scenery.

Boating is very popular in High Cliff State Park as well, with three different concrete boat launches available to guests free of charge. These can handle any type of craft, both motorized and non-motorized. If you're looking to get out on the waters here, make sure you've got up to date registration from the state of Wisconsin. Canines are allowed to accompany guests onto the lake at owners' discretions.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
