Description

Little Pee Dee State Park is mainly comprised of 835 acres of land near the town of Dillon, in Dillon County, South Carolina. To get to the park just travel along the I-95 and take Exit 193 onto Highway 9 which goes through Dillon. Then take a right onto Highway 57 and drive about 11 miles before turning left onto County Road 22 (State Park Road). You will then cross two bridges over the Little Pee Dee River where you can find the main entrance to the park about one mile on the right.

When you get to the park you will find several features that make this park distinct from other parks. First, you will find part of the Carolina Bay which is a mysterious geological depression that is unique to the Atlantic Coastal Plain.

You will also find a sand rim where water receded leaving the white sand and an ancient coastline. Within the park, you will also find Lake Norton a 54-acre lake that is popular for several activities including fishing and boating. Some of the fish that you can catch from the lake include catfish, bass, and bream.

Other popular activities at the park include camping and wildlife viewing. Amenities within the park to facilitate these activities include a nature trail, comfort station, primitive group camp, playground, 50 campsites, two picnic shelters, low ropes course, boat ramp, and boat rentals.

You are also allowed to come to the park with your dog at no extra cost. If you bring your dog into the park, you will need to ensure that you follow the state park rules some of which include the following. First, you must always keep your dog on a leash that is no more than six feet long or confined in a secure enclosure.

You must also avoid park buildings and keep your dog from making too much noise or from behaving in a threatening or dangerous manner towards wildlife in the park. That said, you can generally take your dog in most outdoor areas of the park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
