Meridian State Park

Featuring the 72-acre Meridian Lake, Meridian State Park offers ample opportunity for a number of outdoor recreation activities. On the water, visitors may engage in fishing, swimming, and no-wake boating. And on-land activities including bird watching, hiking, picnicking, and camping. The park is busiest during spring, summer, and fall but offers outdoor recreational fun all year-round.

For those interested in camping, the park offers sites that range from primitive to those equipped with full RV hookups. There are also screened shelters, group facilities, and a cabin available for rental. See the park’s website or call the park’s office for camping rates. The Bosque Hiking Trail circles Lake Meridian and has several scenic features including an overlook and limestone outcroppings with fossils.

Meridian State Park is open daily; the gate is open from 8 AM to 10 PM. Entrance to the park costs $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Reservations can be made in advance by calling the park office during business hours or through the park’s website.

For the safety of you and your pet, dogs should be kept on a leash no longer than six feet in length at all times. Do not allow your dog to dig, disturb wildlife, or become a nuisance to other park visitors. In Texas state parks, pets are not allowed inside any of the buildings.

If you go hiking with your dog, always come prepared with plenty of water for both you and your pet. Bring waste bags and be sure to clean up after your pet. Also, use caution by notifying someone else where you are going and when you expect to return. Be alert and wary of any hazards on the trails.
