Description

Rooster Rock State Park is a bustling park during the summer months, with its over three miles of Columbia River shoreline. Several opportunities for fun and recreation are offered here, including a full disc golf course, several beaches, and opportunities for boating and swimming.

Watersports are quite the big deal in Rooster Rock State Park, with boating being an everyday summertime activity. There's a boat ramp located on the park's lagoon that's free for guests to use provided they've paid park admission fees. While motorboats aren't allowed, you'll see a lot of canoes and kayaks on the water during the warm summer months.

Rental for these vessels is available at the park's Lagoon offices for a small, additional fee. Dogs are allowed beachside as long as they're on some sort of restraint. Get out on the trails during the fall months to catch Rooster Rock State Park's famous changing leaves.

During this period the maple and oak trees practically explode with reds and yellows, and you'll often catch deer running through the area. The 2-mile Forest Loop trail is perfect to get a glimpse of these particular season sights and can be found at the east side of the park.

If you bring your canine along, make sure you clean up any messes they might deposit on the paths. If you're a fan of disc golfing, Rooster Rock State Park has two separate courses to play through. The Western Course offers average lengths and can be attempted by just about anyone. The East Course is far more technical and challenging.

Make sure to bring your equipment, as no rental options are offered here. Dogs are allowed to accompany guests on these courses provided they stay on a leash during your stay. An off-leash dog park was built here in 1997, which is located just west of the disc golf course. The park offers several shady spots, three water sources, and free tennis balls to play fetch with.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
