Description
South Fork State Recreation Area is an idyllic state park and camping facility in Spring Creek, Nevada. The landscape is marked by incredible views of the snow-capped Ruby Mountains and various lakes. Visitors to this naturally landscaped recreational treasure praise its tranquil atmosphere and off-the-beaten-track location, making it the ideal spot for a relaxing vacation or day trip away. 

Though there is not a designated dog play space at South Fork State Recreation Area, dogs are permitted to join their owners on the grounds of this beloved park. However, in accordance with Nevada state laws, they must remain on a leash of no greater than six feet at all times. South Fork State Recreation Area is a private recreational spot and campground. 

To gain access to the property, owners can pay a $5 fee which permits access for a full day. Those making use of the campgrounds will incur higher fees for their on-site reservations, and pet fees may be applicable as well. There are no on-site amenities for dog use at South Fork State Recreation Area. Bathrooms are provided for public use and include fully functioning showers with hot water access. 

Drinking water should be brought along hiking trails to ensure Fido remains well-hydrated. Poop bags are not supplied; however, all pet waste removal is the responsibility of all owners. Among the many great outdoor opportunities at South Fork State Recreation Area are hunting, boating, fishing, and swimming. The lakes abound with catfish, bass, and trout of legendary size. 

Wildlife also makes this state park its home including ducks, geese, mule deer, badgers, beavers, and kit foxes. The land itself is replete with fragrant meadows and verdant hills. There are also limestone canyons and cultural sites for Fido and his family to explore. For those wishing to enjoy a small portion of history, South Fork State Recreation Area connects to a portion of the California National Historic Trail at the Hastings Cutoff. 

The South Fork State Recreation Area enforces Nevada by-laws by requiring all dogs visiting their recreational haven to be current on vaccinations as well as to possess a city dog license. For a day of fun in the Nevada sun, plan a visit to South Fork State Recreation Area!
