Description

A refuge for wildlife as well as for visitors, South Llano River State Park has plenty to draw in locals and visitors alike. With some preparation and a sense of adventure, you and your family can enjoy a day or a weekend at the park with something everyone will enjoy.

On land, visitors to South Llano River State Park can camp, hike, bike, geocache, or even just sit back and relax while enjoying observing nature. The park hosts nearly 23 miles of trails, which range from easy-going to difficult. Visitors are also permitted to ride bikes along the trails, which host amazing views with higher elevations above the lower park area.

For overnight guests, most campsites come equipped with water and electricity hookups, although hike-in primitive sites are also available for the more adventurous. The park is open daily. Admission to the park costs $5 for adults, though children under 13 may enter free of charge. Reservations may be made in advance by contacting the park’s office by phone or through the park website.

On the water, guests can fish; you do not need a fishing license within this park. There is also fishing gear available for loan from the park headquarters. There is also paddling and floating in designated areas, with tubes available for rent as well.

If bringing your dog, always be respectful of the park’s posted rules set for your pet’s and the local wildlife’s protection. Your pet must be under your physical control at all times, either inside a crate or on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. As with any other Texas state park, always clean up after yourself and your pet, and don’t forget to bring your own waste bags.

Please do not bring aggressive dogs, females in heat, or any dog that may become a nuisance to other park guests. If you are looking for a furry- and family-friendly destination for an afternoon or weekend of fun, look no further than South Llano River State Park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
