Southold Dog Park

Everyone heads out East during the summer for one reason or another, and now your dog has a reason too! The Southold Dog Park is a good park for him to visit. Whether you live nearby or want to make a special trip to this quaint town, this dog park is not far off route 25 and is located just behind the Southold Recreation Center on Peconic Lane. 

It's a small lot that is one acre, but it is split between the large dogs and small dogs, each having about half an acre. The fenced-in area has a double-gated entry for safe coming and goings of pups and their friends. The park has a ground covered in grass and dirt and some trees for shade. There is a water fountain for the dogs, but it is on the side for the larger dogs. It's best to be safe and bring your own water supply if you have a smaller pup. 

For the two-legged visitors, the parking lot is close and there are several benches to rest on. The park also provides bags and garbage cans for your convenience. Like in all parks, pick up after your dog. The park requires your dog to be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and licensed. Even though your pup will be nearby in this park, monitor him as he plays. 

This dog park is free and is under the supervision of the Town of Southold, but many local dog owners encourage the maintenance and improvements of the park. If you are making a day of your trip out East, you can spend some time at the dog park and then find a dog-friendly restaurant or bar nearby. You can enjoy a delicious meal and Fido can rest after running around all day. Bring some treats in case his favorite dish isn't on the menu.
