The Catherine and Holden Corzine Memorial Dog Park, Chillicothe, OH

The Catherine and Holden Corzine Memorial Dog Park was the first public dog park built in the city of Chillicothe, OH. Its many amenities and location have made it a pup-ular destination for dog-lovers and their pooches to engage in some canine fun. Covering about an acre, the park offers ample room for chasing, fetching, and socializing. 

The Corzine Memorial Dog Park has a lot going for it, including a small dog area for the under 25-pound pooches. Shade trees and shrubs occupy the space inside, as well as outside along the six-foot-high fence. A combination of grass and wood chips keeps paws comfortable and safe. The location provides convenient, easy access to the paved Paint Creek Recreational Trail, where you can take your fur baby for a cool-down stroll after the park’s excitement. 

For convenience, free parking is located right outside the park and a wheelchair-accessible sidewalk leads from there to the park gate. An enclosed leash/unleash area provides safe entry and exit. The park also features water fountains for both dogs and humans, plus waste stations stocked with clean-up bags. Tennis balls are scattered across the yard, and pet parents can sit on benches and rocks in the sun or shade while the furballs play.

Rules posted at the park include safety measures such as mandated vaccinations, a four-month-old minimum age, and a spay/neuter requirement for pups over six months. Every dog must wear a collar or harness with license and rabies tags attached. No canine or human food, or treats are allowed inside the park, and no toys other than balls and frisbees. Aggressive behavior like bullying or mounting should result in the offending dog’s removal from the park. And, of course, pet parents are expected to pick up after their pups and be mindful of other etiquette guidelines.
