Zero New Washington Dog Park

The Zero New Washington Street Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Somerville, Massachusetts. If pet parents are arriving at this dog park by vehicle, they will need to park it on the roadside next to the off-leash area as there is no parking lot. This Somerville dog park was just a scrap of wasteland, but under the caring attention of the Somdog Organization, it is now a state of the art dog park. 

The Somdog Organization is a non-profit organization who concentrate their donated funds on acquiring grounds for off-leash areas and maintaining them. Pet parents don't need to be a member or pay a fee to use the dog park, but if they feel inclined to join or even make a donation either is gratefully accepted. What is required of pups before they use the facility is to have their shots, license and parasite treatments up to date. 

This dog park in Somerville is comprised of a rectangular compound which is shared by pups of all sizes. It's long enough to give even the biggest fur baby space to stretch their legs plus there are climbing rocks and some agility equipment to give them some more varied exercise. The off-leash area is gravel surfaced which can be dusty during dry weather and has a tendency to retain water when it has rained. 

Pups might get their paws wet, but owners don't need to as there is a paved pathway running the whole length of the dog park with several benches spaced out along it. A wooden gazebo has also been provided where owners can get out of the sun or shelter from the rain. 

Come rain or shine, one all-weather job which needs doing is poop scooping. There is a waste station in the dog park and trash cans for depositing used bags in. All pet parents should make sure they use what's been provided and lend a helping hand in keeping the dog park clean.
