Bachman Creek Greenbelt

Even in Dallas, you'll be able to find cool and secluded trails that will make you forget that you're in the city. One of the best places for this is the Bachman Creek Greenbelt, as it offers up a cool and peaceful area you and your pup can explore at your leisure. 

The trail is made from compacted clay and soil, with a varying width between 2 feet and four feet depending on where you're on the trail. It is located in the Bachman Creek Greenbelt Park, which shares the same name of the trail. Parking is available on the road on the south side of the park, where open fields are more present. There are a few acres of open space, with a large portion of trees separating the space and the forest. Although you'll be able to play in the open area, the trail itself doesn't start until you enter the treeline with a small path that crosses the Bachman Branch. There are a few small beaches along the branch, allowing for you and Fido to stop, fish, or dip your feet into the water on a hot summer day. The trail continues past the creek and webs through the park, moving in and out of trees that offer shade and more open space. The trail then explores the northern half of the park, cutting through deep shrubs and forests, and to Bachman Lake. The trail ends here, so you'll have to head back and enjoy the water of the creek before returning. This trail offers no amenities, so be sure to bring water to share, and clean up bags.
