Description

Have you and your pup run out of exciting hikes to take? Why not put the Cartier Park Walk Path on your to-do list and head over there today? Located in the city of Ludington, Michigan, this might end up being one of your favorite places to spend some outdoor time with your fur-ever friend.

You can pick up the trailhead at Cartier Park where you will find free public parking. Pack up your pup and head out on this 1.3-mile loop path that circles the park. Although there is a campground nearby, there is no public parking there.

Begin this loop in a counter-clockwise direction, headed west. You soon will be meandering through this 80-acre park and along Lincoln Lake’s south shore, near the Lincoln River. The path is almost entirely paved and level, which makes it perfect for newbie pup-hikers and children learning to ride a bike! Continuing on, you will reach a gazebo where you can stop and photograph the lake, after which the path heads you into the pine and oak forest. You will pick up a short section of a natural footing path here, but will quickly return to the asphalt pavement.

The walk path offers beautiful scenery in a suburban setting. This multi-use trail attracts joggers, hikers, walkers and bicyclists, so sharing the trail is important. Your puptastic friend is always required to be on leash throughout your hike. There are no designated restrooms or water fountains along the walk path in winter, so plan accordingly, however, they available during the summer months near the park entrance. The trail is maintained all winter long, so strap up your boots and get out into the fresh air with your pawtastic pup.

Ludington is a picturesque city where pups are welcome with open arms. Make sure to check it out today and enjoy some quality time with Fido at the Cartier Park Walk Path.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
