Devil's Slide Coastal Trail

If you're looking to take a hike with your pup and want to experience the view of a lifetime, make sure to visit Devil's Slide Trail! The trail, which is just over three miles long, is located in Pacifica, California and runs right alongside the Pacific Ocean. Make sure your phone is fully charged so that you can snap some pictures of you and your canine companion!

One of the things that makes Devil's Slide Trail so interesting is that it actually used to be a highway. While this does mean the trail might not feel as natural as some others, it also means it's entirely paved, which makes for a smooth hike. The trail is recommended for hikers of all skill levels, including beginners. Be sure you have appropriate hiking gear, though. Locals warn that parts of the trail can be very steep.

Fido is welcome to join you on your hike, but the two of you will have to abide by a few rules! A leash is required at all times; there are no exceptions. The leash should be no longer than six feet. It's your responsibility to clean up after your pup, so make sure you bring along some waste baggies and have somewhere to keep them until you find a trash bin. 

In the mornings, the trail is usually pretty shady, so if you don't want to hike under direct sunlight, going early might be your best bet. If you do decide to hike here during the middle of the day, make sure your dog's paws are protected so that they don't get burned. The pavement can become quite hot.
