Lady Moon Trail

Lady Moon Trail is the pawfect option if your doggo wants an easy walk in the great outdoors. This beautiful hike is not too long and has very little incline, so your doggo can spend their time communing with Mother Nature rather than huffing and puffing up a mountain.

The trail runs south of the parking lot and can be a little tricky to identify. You’ll see a route that bears east, but this is mostly for horseback riders and doesn’t lead to the actual trail, so make sure you and your pooch head south. Make your way across the first meadow. As they trot across the wide open space, your doggo will feel free and will forget all about their canine cares.

Once you get to the other side, look for a green post. From here, the trail gradually climbs up. Don’t worry, it’s not too strenuous. At the top of the hill is a junction for the Granite Ridge Trail, which is also known as the Molly Lake Trail. If your doggo needs a longer hike, follow this four mile trail. If not, paws for some water and snacks before heading back to the car.

As you walk along the Lady Moon Trail, you’ll see several spur trails. If your pooch is feeling adventurous, follow one and see where you end up. They’ll be in heaven as they explore the area and wander through groves of ponderosa pine. Just be sure to watch for private property signs. During the spring, winter runoff creates small streams in the meadows. There’s a good chance your buddy will end up wet and muddy. But that just adds to the pawsome experience! Don’t forget to have some water on hand, as well as clean up bags. After romping around, your furry friend will need a drink and there is no drinking water along the hike.
