Description

Looking for a stroll in the Seattle area? Visit the Montlake Cut National Waterside Trail, located in the West Montlake Park in the northern Seattle area. It is ideal for all pup-abilities, so even those pups that don’t have as much spring in their step as they used to will enjoy their day!

Built alongside the Lake Washington Ship Canal, this paved path has iron railings that allow the scenic beauty of the area to shine through, so you and your pup can enjoy the beauty of the water rushing alongside. This is an easy stroll that offers benches to sit along the way.

This historic channel was built in the early 1900’s to connect the Union and Portage Bays in the Seattle area and remains an important shipping channel. During the summer months, boat regattas and parades are held here, and it is used by the University of Washington’s rowing team, which makes for an extra special outing with your fur-ever friend. This path was developed to offer a waterside walk to be enjoyed by all and is now listed as a National Recreational Trail.

There are no water fountains or restrooms specific to this trail as it is located in the Montlake neighborhood of this city. It is advised to pack water and snacks for you both to share. Rain is prevalent in this area, so a rain jacket for Fido and an umbrella for you to stay dry would be helpful!

Montlake Cut Waterside Trail is a multi-use trail, offering recreational opportunities to not only pup-tastic walkers, but bicyclers as well. So be sure to keep your pawtastic pup on leash throughout your walk for everyone’s safety.

Check out this waterside trail to spend some quality time with your pup in the greater Seattle area.
