Description

New Mexico offers a lot of outdoor activities for residents and visitors alike, but there is a must-do hike in Albuquerque that tops them all. Be sure to check out the Paseo del Nordeste Recreation Trail where you can spend the day with your fur-ever friend and enjoy the great outdoors.

The trailhead is located at the junction of the North Diversion Channel Trail and ends at Pennsylvania Street. This 3.1-mile out-and-back trail will take you both in an east-west direction and through open space, residential areas, and Montgomery Park, offering you a varied hike and an amazing adventure.

Paseo del Nordeste has an asphalt or concrete surface which is easy for elderly pups to traverse. It is also accessible for the handicapped and service dogs.  This trail has been developed along the water channel running through the town, which is called the Hahn Arroyo section of the trail.  This shared-use trail features bicyclists, joggers and in-line skaters. Be sure to share the road. This hike is rated as easy and has only a slight incline throughout the entire journey. Views of the Sandias will be picturesque and photo worthy! A selfie with Fido along the way is a must!

As you reach the halfway point of the trail, you will pass through Montgomery Park which offers a children’s playground and pool, restrooms and drinking fountains. Be sure to refill your water bottles before you leave the area. There are also numerous benches along the path here for you to take a rest and relax a bit before you continue your hike. Clean up stations are situated within the park as well as trash receptacles.

It is important to keep your fur-ever friend on leash throughout your hike for everyone’s safety and enjoyment. The Paseo del Nordeste Recreation Trail offers a pup-tastic time, creating a pawtastic adventure!  Check it out today!
