Description

The Scottsboro City Park Walking Trail is located within the 18-acre municipal park of the same name. This is a dog-friendly trail that meanders along the shores of the Tennessee River and Gunterville Lake, and is known for its quiet, scenic beauty. Paved with asphalt, boardwalk and mostly level, it is wheelchair and stroller accessible, and is equipped with picnic benches where you and your fur-buddy can sit and contemplate the beautiful view and the wildlife living in and around the lake's edge. This is a prime bird-watching site for local residents, and has its share of mammals as well, scurrying across the path, up trees and under bushes. A full 6 feet wide, there's plenty of room for walking abreast with your human and doggo companions, but please move to the side when you meet others on the trail.

Shade trees line the trail on both sides, though you will still have a mostly unobstructed view of the lake, and the grassy surface invites you to have a sit and a picnic in the shade. You'll encounter docks and boat ramps that are part of the park, and you're welcome to put in here for a boat or paddle ride on the lake with your pooch. The end of the trail is at the tip of a small inlet in the lake where you may see ducks with their chicks in the shallows or deer drinking at the water's edge. As you head back to the parking area, you may have thoughts of a grilled meal in the park before leaving. With pawsome views and lots of space, this sounds like a grand idea!

Drinking water and trash receptacles are available in the park and along the path, but remember to bring waste bags for the pup with you and to discard them after use.

Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll or getting in a quick 2-mile run with your furry bestie by your side, this is a convenient and lovely place to do it.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
