Description

Bushytail is a small, pet and family-friendly campground near Weaverville, California with only 12 sites to choose from. This peaceful campground has group campsites for tents or RVs as well as tent-only campsites with water and electric services. This campground is located within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, which has five wilderness areas, hundreds of lakes, and more than 6,000 miles of streams and rivers, so there's plenty to explore in the area.

The Bushytail campsites are only 0.7 miles from Trinity Lake, the third-largest lake in California. You can make the quick walk from your campsite to the lake where you can enjoy beach activities, water sports, and all sorts of other outdoor adventures. The lake is surrounded by the Trinity Alps, so there's no shortage of gorgeous scenery, and the high elevation will make you feel like you're on top of the world!

Guests love how clean and tidy the bathrooms at the campground are, even though flush toilets are only available during certain times of the year. There are a few coin-operated showers at the campground, as well as campfire rings, picnic areas, and barbecue pits. Black bears are often seen in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, so each campsite is equipped with bear-proof food lockers that guests are encouraged to use. Be advised that there is little privacy between campsites due to low vegetation around the campground.

There are several hiking trails near the campground, including the four-mile Trinity Lakeshore Trail. This easy hike can be done with your dog, but like the campsites, your dog must be on a leash during your trek.

If you'd like to make a quick trip during your stay, you can head to the nearby town of Weaverville, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. In Weaverville, you'll find restaurants, shopping centers, and walking tours to learn about the town.

No matter how you spend your time at Bushytail Campground, one thing is for sure -- you and your pup will never be bored at this incredible outdoor oasis!
