Description

Just 3 miles from the historic town of Lewiston, California, this dog-friendly campground sits on the shores of Lewiston Lake. It is a favorite for fishermen and kayak and canoe enthusiasts. The 5-mile long and 70-feet deep lake lies on an elevation of about 1,900 feet, offering a view of itself to every site on Cooper Gulch Campground.

Anglers and paddlers love this campground - and the Lewiston Lake. In addition to fishing and kayaking, the campground also offers good hiking and wildlife viewing options. The campground, also close to the Trinity River Dam, serving as an excellent base for exploring surrounding recreation options beyond Weaverville.

There are 5 paved campsites that come with a large fire pit, tables (one wood and one metal), and paved wheelchair-accessible trails. A vault restroom is also available and so is potable water. You can bring your RV (max length 16 feet), tent, trailers, or motorhome, keeping in mind hookups are not available. 5 parking spaces are also present at the Cooper Gulch day-use area. You can use them if you want to head to the Baker Gulch Trail for fishing or hiking. It is a great place where you and Fido can find a slice of paradise, enjoying the spacious campsites and your choice of water-related or other activities. Be sure to clean up after yourself and your doggo. Other activities include OHV and horseback riding.

Within 4 miles of the campground is the Pine Cove boat ramp, while Trinity Lake’s Fairview launching area is about 9 miles north. The motorboats have a 10 miles/hour limit. You will find plenty of rainbow trout as well as brown and brook trout. The lake is also great for a float tube and fly-fishing. The lake offers a lot of picturesque spots. All in all, it makes for a great camping and fishing site.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
