Description

Hilltop Campground in Prescott Basin is a popular camping spot thanks to mild weather and lush forests of ponderosa pine, manzanita and oak trees. With an elevation of 5,712 ft and its prime location within the Lynx Lake Recreation Area, it is popular among those seeking some relaxation or outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, or wildlife spotting.

The campsite offers 37 partially shaded campsites laid out spaciously in three loops. All sites have a tent pad and are equipped with a picnic table, grill, and steel fire ring. All of them allow campfires, but only in the provided steel rings for safety reasons. Each site can accommodate one vehicle (up to 40ft in length) and a single tent, which should only be set on a tent pad. Out of 37 sites, three of them are double occupancy sites. These, plus an additional 23 regular sites, can be reserved in advance. Sixteen sites are back-in, another 16 are parallel, and five are pull-thru sites.

This campsite doesn’t have electric or water hook-ups, but six water faucets are available on the grounds. Amenities include vault restrooms and trash dumpsters, but there are no showers or dump stations.

The most popular activities include fishing and boating in the nearby Lynx Lake, but swimming is not allowed there. Rainbow trout, crappie, catfish, sunfish, and largemouth bass are the most common fish found in the lake. Other popular activities include mountain biking, backpacking, horseback riding, and hiking on dedicated nearby trails. Wildlife spotting, especially bird watching, is also highly popular in the area.

Pets are allowed on the camping grounds but have to be leashed at all times. The leash should not be longer than 6 feet, and your dog will have to be on their best behavior. This means no excessive barking or disturbing other campers, particularly during peak times. You will have to bring poop bags and other supplies for your dog with you, as they are not supplied on the grounds, and always remember to clear up and leave the campsite as you found it.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
