Description

A popular state park in Saratoga County, New York, Moreau Lake State Park is tucked away in a pretty location just outside Moreau. Surrounded by hardwood forests and scenic ridges, the park is a lovely spot for a summer camping vacation.

Encompassing more than 4,500 acres, the park offers an extensive list of recreational activities. There are more than 20 hiking trails to explore, excellent swimming conditions in the lake's cool waters, a sandy beach, nature trails, and much more. Picnic tables shaded by tall trees offer the perfect spot to stop for a bite to eat, while beach lounges, beach umbrellas, and fishing gear can all be rented in the summer.

When winter arrives, the park becomes a favorite haunt for snow sports enthusiasts. Ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are all offered here, with snowshoes available for rent if you don't have your own.

When you're ready to bed down for the night, the Moreau Lake State Park campground features 145 campsites and is open to four-legged guests. Two of the park's seven cabins are also designated as pet-friendly, so you can enjoy a few extra creature comforts but still bring your pet along for the journey.

If you're camping with your pet, make sure you familiarize yourself with all New York State Park rules surrounding dogs before you visit. These include a requirement to keep your pooch on a leash no longer than six feet, and being able to provide proof of your dog's rabies vaccination. Pets are welcome in the campground but are not permitted in buildings or bathing areas, and pet-friendly campsites have a two-pet maximum. Finally, don't forget to clean up after your dog whenever necessary.

Moreau Lake State Park is a pawesome location for a quintessential American camping vacation. No matter when you visit, the whole family (including your dog) should have an absolute ball.
