Description

Notable for its scenic drives, Rattin Campground is a small, isolated series of sites that provide an excellent spot for city dwellers who need to get away from it all. The surrounding forests offer multiple landscapes including grasslands, canyons, and shorelines, which makes it a great spot for camping with your canine.

Rattin Campground offers very few sites, only 7 in all. These are all primitive areas, meaning you'll be lacking electrical and plumbing connections. A few of these sites can fit RVs, so it's crucial to call ahead if you intend to stay here in a recreational vehicle or pop-up camper. Potable water is available outside of the vault toilets, which are located a short distance away from most sites. If you've kept Fido along for your stay here, be sure to keep them in your tent or RV through the evening, as pets are forbidden from spending the night outdoors.

Fishing is done in the nearby Rock Creek. This portion of the creek offers species like trout and crappie, so make sure to pack your rod and reel if this interests you. If you'd like to get out on foot with Fido for some exploration, there are quite a few hiking trails available here.

Four distinct trailheads start just a short distance away, including the Hellroaring and Beartrack Trails. These trails are sometimes open to cycling traffic as well as off-road vehicles, so make sure to stop by the camp's offices for a free trail guide before setting off. Canines are to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, and their refuse needs to be cleaned up as you explore. Make sure to pack any essentials for you and your companion, like fresh water, waste bags, and a charged cell phone, as some of these stretches of the trail can be somewhat strenuous.

For a vacation that you and your buddy will never furget, add Rattin Campground to your bucket list!
