Swan Creek Campground

Campers looking to stay at Swan Creek Campground will be treated to a fairly primitive experience, with none of the 12 sites containing plumbing or electrical hookups. Extended stay campers with an RV or popup camper will have to look elsewhere if they require connections, although the sites are large enough to park on. Firewood is sold on-site, although Swan Creek management warns not to take any leftovers with you, as tree-killing pests are quite prevalent in the region. Guests with canines are to keep them leashed up, lest they get their paws into mischief. Make sure that Fido stays in your tent overnight if you've brought them along.

Thanks to the nearby Swan Creek, overnight guests will have no trouble finding a nearby fishing spot if they're looking to enjoy the sport. Several different species of trout swim these waters, including brown and brook among others. No bait shops or facilities exist here for rental or last-minute items, so make sure you pack up your gear if you and Fido are looking to put together a feast for the night. Canines are free to follow their owners down to the shore, provided they're on restraint and don't bother other fishing enthusiasts.

The nearby Gallatin Canyon houses several trails, including the Swan Creek Trail which starts its path in the campgrounds and winds around the creek in a meandering 4-mile loop. This trail is perfect for dog walking, as it's generally quite flat and stocked with garbage cans in case Fido leaves an accident or two behind them. If you're trying to find more of a challenge than what the Swan Creek trail provides, the Golden Trout Lakes Trail is found a few miles south and will put you and your dog to the test, should you want to work up a sweat.
