Rough River Dam State Resort Park

Sitting right on the Rough River Dam, the Rough River Dam State Resort Park is a pawtastic recreation spot in northern Kentucky for families and their canines! Established in 1961, the area near the dam was initially built to help with flood control in the local area. Today, the park covers over 370 acres featuring lots of outdoor opportunities you and your pup will love along the Rough River Lake.

For the water lovers, a marina on site offers lots of slips for personal boats, and pontoon rentals for the casual boater. Fishing is pawtastic here, just be sure to pick up a Kentucky fishing license first.

For the hikers, there's two furbulous trails to explore. The 1 mile Lake Ridge Trail is a great bird watching opportunity that travels along the shoreline. The Folklore Trail is a bit shorter at 0.7 miles, and passes an old pioneer cabin. There's also an orienteering trail for enthusiasts with 13 control points.

If you have sports lovers in your clan, check out the basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, as well as disc golf, mini golf, and shuffleboard.

Make it a vacation with a stay in the dog-friendly accommodations on site in the 40 room lodge, or in one of the two bedroom cottages. Overnight guests can enjoy the swimming pool, and lots of amenities. There's also playgrounds for the kids, picnic areas, a restaurant, and a private airstrip if you wish to fly in. To top it off, there's even a beach!

Your furry pal can join you throughout this puptastic park, just be sure they stay on a leash no longer than six feet. Your pup should be licensed and vaccinated too.
