Braddock Road Off Leash Dog Area

Sightseeing in Rosemont with your pup? If a leisurely stroll around the historic district isn't enough to tire your pooch out, take them to the Braddock and Commonwealth Dog Exercise Area for some unfettered sprints. Situated on the southern end of the Potomac West neighborhood, this off-leash area is one of nearly 20 locations around Alexandria where canine citizens can ditch the leash.  

You and Fido will find this grassy spot in the southeast corner of Braddock Road and Commonwealth Avenue. There are no conspicuous signage here, but you'll know you're in the right place when you see the bollards with the paw prints. These also mark the dog exercise area's boundaries, and your doggo is allowed to roam freely as long as they're inside. It is impawtant to note that this is an unfenced location by the road, so make sure your pup responds well to voice commands before you unclip their leash. Watch them closely at all times, too! If your furry companion is still working on their recall, then a fenced dog park might be a better choice.

Braddock and Commonwealth is a no-frills dog exercise area that is pawfectly suited for canines who need a quick break, whether it's to stretch their legs or go to the bathroom. Be sure to stoop and scoop if your four-legged pal does the latter! A trash can is available on-site but doggie waste bags are not provided, so don't forget to bring your own. Another item that shouldn't be left at home is Fido's water bottle. Though a good portion of the area is shaded by trees, keeping your pooch hydrated is still a must.
