Introduction

The things of our dreams can't come true, right? In Adam Sandler's 2008 comedy Bedtime Stories, Skeeter Bronson is a hotel maintenance man who has the responsibility of caring for his young niece and nephew. Each night when he puts them to bed at the hotel, Uncle Skeeter tells them a funny tale in the hopes of assisting the kids off to slumber. Soon, Skeeter learns that his tales have a little magic, so each night when he relates a bedtime story, he begins to gear the story to his benefit. In the end, Skeeter gets the girl and he gets his birthright - the hotel which is rightfully his.

Bedtime Stories Inspired Dog Name Considerations

The featured pet in Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories is a guinea pig named Bugsy due to his rather large eyes. However, there is a Bulldog featured as Violet's pet. He only makes a few brief appearances.

In the spirit of Bugsy, one dog breed that tends to have large, protruding eyes is the Pug. In fact, if not properly cared for, the Pug is known to have their eye become dislocated from the eye socket, with surgical correction the pup's only hope. This makes the Pug a breed that is well-suited for a name inspired by Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories.

An English Bulldog is featured briefly in the film, and it is fairly well-known that comedian Adam Sandler is rather fond of the English Bulldog, having owned at least two, Meatball and Matzoball. Meatball was featured in another Sandler film, Little Nicky. Meatball was an adopted dog, and, without explanation, Meatball died suddenly at around the age of four. Heartbroken, Sandler adopted another English Bulldog. This time, he called his pooch "Matzoball."

As of this writing, Matzoball is still a part of the Sandler family. However, Meatball is not forgotten. He was a part of Sandler's wedding in 2004, shortly before he passed away.
