Bruce Almighty Inspired Dog Names

If the entirety of the human race are considered to all be God's children and dog's are ubiquitously considered to be man's best friend, what is the measure of a dog to the Almighty? Admittedly, Bruce Almighty doesn't really harp on this question too much but it does feature a prominent canine character by way of Bruce's dog Sam. Again, Sam doesn't experience an entire character arc the way Bruce does, but he's featured in a few memorable scenes; in particular, one of the first things Bruce does with his newfound Godhood is literally potty train his dog - he doesn't simply teach Sam to poop and pee in a designated litter, he teaches Sam to use the bathroom just like a human!  Sam would continue to exhibit a number of human traits, even turning on the TV and playing the film It's A Wonderful Life in the latter half of the film. Bruce Nolan's dog Sam was portrayed by a canine actor named Buster - who was identified as being a mixed breed Pointer by fans of the film. During Principal Photography for Bruce Almighty, Buster was about 10 months old. If the set photos are anything to go by, along with Jim Carrey's reputation for being an animal lover, Carrey and Buster got along swimmingly during the production of Bruce Almighty.

Sam/Buster may have used the bathroom like a human for the sake of cinematic integrity but Baron - a German Shepherd from California - uses the bathroom like a human on a daily basis! It's not impossible that you've had videos of Baron's exploits sent to you by friends and family members via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram around 2015 - when videos depicting this German Shepherd's exploits went viral on the internet. While Sam properly using the bathroom was quite literally an Act of God, Baron's bathroom etiquette has a less than sublime explanation behind it; Baron is actually a K9 who was in training during 2015. His trainer had taught Baron to perform a number of complex tasks -  from loading dirty dishes into dishwashing machines to properly using the bathroom, Baron's trainer sought to help the then 5 month old German Shepherd become as well rounded as possible. Baron's trainers from the Hillcountry K9 school actually captured quite a bit of the German Shepherd's antics on film. The videos that featured Baron doing his business and then cleaning up after himself just so happened to be the ones that were shared the most.
