Introduction

Clash of the Titans is a cult classic Sword & Sandals fantasy film from the early 1980's. It was directed by Desmond Davis and written by Beverley Cross. One of the film's most distinguishing features comes by way of the stop motion animation techniques that visual effects legend Ray Harryhausen used to bring the various mythological monsters featured in the film to life. For those who don't know, Clash of the Titans is loosely based on the story of the Greek Demigod Perseus, who was sent on a quest by the gods to rescue Princess Andromeda from the clutches of the infamous Kraken. The original film came out in 1981, while a remake came out in 2010 which led to a sequel that came out in 2012.

Clash of the Titans Inspired Dog Name Considerations

If you're a fan of Action Adventure Fantasy films from the 1980's onward, then you're likely already intimately familiar with Clash of the Titans and will need very little convincing. In a major way, many of the Modern Age of Cinema's most famous and popular Action Adventure Fantasy films (including the likes of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy and many films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe) were inspired by Clash of the Titans in some way. For the film's cinematic and historical significance alone, one should consider naming their dog after one of the cast or crew members who helped bring the film to life.

Clash of the Titans is also based on Greek Mythology to a large degree, as the characters and setting are all pulled from Achaean lore. If you're a big mythology buff, you could name your dog after just about any character in this film in order to pay homage to the figures found in the Greek Pantheon. You wouldn't be short on options either - you could name a male dog Perseus, Zeus, or Apollo and you could name a female dog Aphrodite, Hera, or Andromeda and you'd be referencing characters from the film and the Greek Pantheon either way.
