Field Spaniel Dog Names

The Field Spaniel is a lovable, happy dog that can bring much joy to their family. This is the case with Oliver, Grand Champion Avalyde Keeping Christmas, CGC, and his owners, David Bowers and Laura Scott. Oliver was born on Christmas Day and came from Maxine Reed of Avalyde Field Spaniels. Bowers and Scott were on a waiting list for a female Field Spaniel but they instead opted to purchase Oliver, a solid black Field Spaniel boy. As a puppy, Oliver went to obedience school where his instructor quickly saw that he was an observational learner and was quickly picking up the bad habits of some of the other dogs in the class. Oliver is a smart boy that loves to play tricks on his family. He is also extremely devoted to his family and prefers to be with them rather than playing in the yard with the other dogs. After just six conformation shows in 2009, Oliver earned his championship and was ranked as the number 15 Field Spaniel. Aside from earning his championship and grand championship, Oliver spends time in the obedience ring and also works as a therapy dog.

Gigi, or Saltmarshe Black Swan Shiraz, is another Field Spaniel owned by Bowers and Scott. Gigi is the daughter of CH Capriole’s Mystic Chalice, the number one Field Spaniel in 2009. Gigi is the diva of the house and is working towards her championship, already racking up ten points. Gigi was also seen at the 2011 Eukanuba Meet the Breeds where she represented the black Field Spaniels. Aside from being in the conformation ring, Gigi is also learning to obedience and will work towards her obedience titles.

Bowers and Scott only recently started their kennel, Saltmarshe Field Spaniels. They have only been involved with this breed for a few years, but are already showing great respect for and a willingness to promote the breed they have come to love. Bowers and Scott are in constant contact with several mentors that have over 40 years experience in Field Spaniels. They are constantly researching and learning more and more about the breed. Bowers and Scott have completed championships on Oliver and another male named Earl, CH Evans’ Apollo, CGC. Aside from earning their AKC championships, these boys have also earned their AKC Canine Good Citizenship title. They also focus on participating in AKC obedience trials with their Field Spaniels. Bowers and Scott plan to continue working with their Field Spaniels and promoting this intelligent and loving breed.
