Dog Names With 2 Words

For some of you, the book White Fang was considered required reading in middle school and you had to do a book report on it after reading it.  For others, you may have seen the movie, adapted from the book written by Jack London, which was produced and released in January 1991.  In the movie, White Fang is a dog/wolf mix who was left alone after his mother was killed by a hunter in the Alaskan desert.  His life was saved from a cruel man by a young gold hunter named Jack Conroy.  After this incident, a strong and emotional bond was developed between White Fang and Jack.  The friendship was interrupted when White Fang was taken from Jack by cruel men who were interested in training and using him in the animal fighting arena.  The book takes the reader through the training and fighting which caused White Fang to become a dangerous killing machine...a truly heart-wrenching part of the story.  Later, Jack and White Fang reconnect and reestablish their former friendship...a touching part of the story. White Fang's new "skills" becoming vital when Jack is faced by men who would rob him of his gold, White Fang being the only one who was able to help Jack fight them off.  

Our second featured famous pop culture dog having a name with 2 words...Black Jack.  Black Jack (nicknamed "Jack") was a smooth-haired, black Manchester Terrier belonging to President Theodore Roosevelt and his family.  It is said that Teddy's family occupied the White House and lived in it in a more lively way than any president up to that point...the family having a true menagerie of pets which are said to have included dogs, cats, birds and even a pony.  Jack was one of the beloved family dogs, truly devoted to family and reserved with strangers.  The Manchester Terrier, known for their alertness and fastidiousness, made Jack generally a very well-mannered pet.But Jack had one weakness - he was fearful of cats and enjoyed the "honor" of being terrorized by the family cat at every opportunity she had.  Jack was President Roosevelt's first "inside" type of dog and even slept with him, frequently curling up at his feet.  The major problem they had with Jack was that fact that he liked to chew on book covers...a problem you can readily imagine when you see the Libraries located in the White House! Though this was a bit of a hiccup for the family, everyone loved him in spite of it, his loving personality saving the day.
